This Youtube video shows you how to have a fire that lasts for hours using only 1 piece of wood.

The method is called the "Swedish fire torch" and the concept is very much like a candle. One piece of wood is chopped into four equal pieces, then tied up to look like just one piece. You start a fire on top of the block, and the coals will slowly fall down into the cracks that you have made in the block. The block acts as a candle and will continue to burn for hours. The fire gives out a lot of heat, light and you can even cook on the it. Enjoy your fire.
