Gold Panner Campground, located at Cherryville, B.C., at the entrance to the Monashee Mountains, has new owners: Kate Stilhammerova and Jiri Pesan.

The Gold Panner isn’t just a place to go camping, it is a walk back in history. The campground is located on the site of a mining operation which dates back to 1840. The Chinese came to this site to mine gold for the emperor and the exciting thing about camping here is that there is still gold in the surrounding area and you can actually try your hand at gold panning.

The campground is surrounded by roaring creeks and endless forests. Besides panning for gold, the whole family can enjoy the tranquility of the large cedar trees, fish in the nearby creeks, take a ride on the tourist bus, hike on Heckman or Monashee creeks, have a try at horseshoes and let the kids play at the playground and trampoline.

The campground offers showers, toilets, power and full hook-ups. If you don’t have an RV, you can rent one of the rustic cabins on the site.
