Vermilion Provincial Park

The Vermilion River and Vermilion Provincial Park are perfect destinations for paddling a canoe or enjoying an afternoon of kayaking. The park provides an opportunity for watching the local waterfowl in their gorgeous natural environment. The ducks, otters, beavers and even pelicans are all there for viewing as paddlers row along the lush green shore. Beach your canoe at Klarrs Cabin or one of the other perfect spots for picnicking along the way and take advantage of the fire pits and washrooms.

Vermilion Provincial Park is on the north side of town and only a 20-minute walk to downtown said Norm McFadien, the principal contractor who operates it.  Visitors to the park can enjoy the beautiful surroundings, paddle the river, view the wildlife and still be in the town of Vermilion, where they will find restaurants, shops and a museum.

The Vermilion River doesn’t see much traffic, but the local rowing club can be seen paddling here regularly. There isn’t an official boat launch, but it is possible to put your boat in the water if you wish.

More than 20 km of groomed trails follow the river and are perfect for walking and cycling or when searching for any of the 100 bird species who call the park home or the white-tailed deer who share the trail with you.

Fishing in the stocked Claude N. Brennan Memorial Trout Pond can be a perfect way to spend the day for campers in the area. The park’s popular campground has everything you will need, including a children’s wading pool and mini golf.  It’s even wheelchair accessible.
