A Journey Beyond: A Chronicle of Pioneer Life in Canada

by

Originally written in her mother language of German and later translated to English, A Journey Beyond: A Chronicle of Pioneer Life in Canada was written in 2010 by Erna Maria Pruckl and independently published as a tribute to her late husband Franz Pruckl and the life they carved for themselves amid the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in northeastern B.C.

Her story is one she never imagined writing, but at her son’s insistence, Pruckl put pen to paper and after several years published the autobiographical book chronicling the sometimes joyful, sometimes heartbreaking and always adventurous experience of the life of a settler in early to mid-20th century Canada.

Through personal sketches and photos of the area, journal entries, letters and editorial commentary, she shares the true story of the hard work and perseverance needed to operate a working ranch and raise a loving family on the open frontier.

To order a copy of A Journey Beyond, contact Erna Maria Pruckl by email, by phone at 250-788-2202, or by mail at P.O. Box 88, Chetwynd, B.C., VOC IJO.
