This was the Wilson's first big trip south in their RV.

Leaving from Vancouver Island, Carl and Lorraine Wilson took five weeks to go on their first big trip south. Although their destination was the Stagecoach festival in Indio/Palm Springs, they made plans to see a lot of things along the way. They went into Oregon to see the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, stopped in Vacaville and San Franscisco in California, then headed east to check out the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park along the old Route 66.

"We stayed at so many great campsites along the way," said Lorraine. "There were elk greeting us in the campground at the Grand Canyon. We met so many RVers going both directions, with advice and tips. We hit the dunes for some rides in the sand on the Oregon coast and made it home five weeks and a day after we left."

Some of their favourite spots were Seven Feathers Casino RV Park, Canyonville, Oregon; Campbell Cove RV Park in Lake Havasu, Arizona; Trailer Village inside Grand Canyon National Park; River Run RV Park in Bakersfield, California; Indian Waters in Indio, California; Newberry Mountain Park on Route 66 ("quaint and really excellent lady there running it," said Lorraine), Silver View in Bullhead City, Arizona; Avi Casino KOA in Laughlin, Nevada; Temple View RV in St. George, Utah; the Mill Casino RV Park in North Bend, Oregon; Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson, California; and Devils Lake RV in Lincoln City, Oregon.

The Wilson's loved the experience and are planning on exploring their own country next summer.

Wonderful Waterton

"We love going to Waterton Lakes National Park in the far southwest corner of Alberta.... we always feel like we've come home when we are there (no small feeling for a couple of prairie kids.)"
