Another RV resort reports that snowbirds are arriving ahead of schedule

Snowbirds are arriving ahead of schedule at Golden Village Palms RV Resort in what is shaping up to be a stronger winter season with occupancies up 12 percent ahead of last winter’s figures.
“Many of our guests from the Pacific Northwest and Canada are arriving several weeks early due to poor weather at home,” said Michael Carle, general manager of Golden Village Palms, one of Southern California’s largest snowbird resort destinations with 1,019 sites.
Forecasts for a hard winter up North combined with falling fuel prices are enticing snowbirds to start their winter migration earlier than last year.
Golden Village Palms, for its part, has been making itself irresistible as a snowbird destination by installing a new fiber optic Wi-Fi system that provides guests with the same kind of Wi-Fi experience they have at home.
Golden Village Palms has also expanded its offering of activities and entertainment. The resort features over 100 activities a week during the winter season, including water aerobics, water volleyball, sand volleyball, Zumba, pinochle, hiking and dancing.
Guests also enjoy modern exercise room with individual television screens on each piece of cardio equipment, swimming pools, spas and pickleball courts. A certified fitness instructor also leads fitness boot camps throughout the winter season.
The resort even has weekly farmers market, live entertainment and special events during the winter season, such as the park’s Academy Palms Award Show, which features celebrity impersonators taking pictures and interviewing
Golden Village Palms guests as they walk down the red carpet. The event also includes a variety of musical entertainment, an elegant dinner, complete with an ice sculpture, and park awards.
“We have awards for the most comical RVer in both male and female categories, the best looking RV site and the best block party, among others,” Carle said.
“We also do Friday night tastings with 1 ounce samplings of different types of alcohol from a local liquor store. One recent Friday we had 16 different types of whiskey. Before that we had different types of tequila and vodka.”
Other upcoming winter activities include a “Taste of the Valley” event in January that will showcase food, products and services from more than 90 businesses across the San Jacinto Valley, including the Soboba Casino. A health fair in February will include free diagnostic screenings such as blood pressure checks and bone density scans as well as health seminars.
Golden Village Palms RV Resort is owned and operated by La Jolla, Calif. based SunLand RV Resorts, which owns and operates 10 RV resorts with 2,520 RV and park model sites in California, Florida and Michigan.
