Located on the east shore of Kootenay Lake, the small town of Boswell is made for fun in the sun. Powerboats are permitted, so you’ll often see water-skiers and tubers zooming around on the waves. The clear, sparkling clean waters are excellent for swimming, snorkelling and diving. Canoeing and kayaking are also popular pastimes.

This gem of the East Kootenay is also a prime lakeshore resort location. Bayshore Resort is one such facility, perfect for a summer getaway. There are more than 50 campsites available, as well as fully furnished cabins with kitchens and living rooms that will house up to six people. The resort is also equipped with a 33-slip marina, where you can park your boat and fill up on gas.

One of the biggest attractions in the Boswell area is the beautiful Lockhart Beach Provincial Park, which provides the only easy access to public camping along the south arm of Kootenay Lake. An 18-site campground and day-use area are available near the pebble and sand beach where visitors can relax and enjoy the refreshing waters of the lake.

You can’t visit Boswell without trying your luck at a little bit of fishing—cast your line and see if you can catch one of Kootenay Lake’s famous rainbow trout.

The most important thing to remember while in Boswell is simply to relax and embrace the day. Escape the rush and busyness of everyday life and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Kootenay Lake.
