Whether you are a new golfer or a seasoned pro, Athabasca Golf & Country Club is equipped to meet your needs. The course has four sets of tees ranging from 5,200 to 7,000 yards—making it adaptable for all skill levels.

“The very competitive prices, superb customer service, and outstanding selection of food choices in our restaurant could make anyone a fan of the Athabasca Golf & Country Club,” said Dave Gray, general manager and CPGA director of golf for the club.

Pursue the sport you love

The pricing is enhanced by several discount deals that are available through the club. This element makes it possible for more players to afford the recreation they love.

“We have a two-for-one green fee deal after 2 p.m., which is found in the Golf Pass Central and Northern Alberta book . . . (and) stay-and-play packages are available through the Super 8 Hotel,” said Gray. “We also have a current special for new members where if you purchase your 2011 membership now, you can play the rest of 2010 for free.”

Located an hour and a half from Edmonton, Athabasca County is known for its camping, natural attractions and friendly residents. Due to the beauty of the area and its atmosphere, it's a popular place for tourists to visit.

“It can provide a perfect weekend getaway,” said Gray. “(Athabasca) is surrounded by numerous lakes and campsites. Once you combine that with an always friendly atmosphere and easygoing lifestyle, you may never want to leave.”

A community asset

Recently the club finished a $1.8-million renovation to the back nine holes of the course. Two years ago, they also revamped their logo design to help kick off the new image.

“The renovations are (also) highlighted by our beautiful half-island par 3, 14th hole,” said Gray, “which can play from 90 yards up to 225 yards.”

The on-site Fox Den Restaurant is one of the most popular dining locales in town. Complete with a patio overlooking the first hole, the Fox Den serves a wide variety of menu choices. For accommodation, visitors can stay at one of the nearby motels, or at the Blueberry Hill RV Park right next door to the golf course.
