It's hard not to fall in love with Campbell River—with every kind of attraction imaginable, you'll find yourself happily exhausted after each day of exploring. Here are some attractions you won't want to miss.

1) Discover your angling talent

Discovery Fishing Pier is one of Campbell River's most famous attractions, and Canada's first saltwater fishing pier. You can stop by 24 hours a day and cast your line—the pier is equipped with bait stands, fish-cleaning tables and rod holders. There are also picnic areas and benches, and you can visit the concession to get rods, tackle, licences or snacks.

2) Take a journey

Aboriginal Journeys is a local tour company that offers a wealth of adventures for anyone visiting Campbell River. See grizzly bears, go orca whale watching, or view other coastal wildlife from a covered tour boat. Owner of the company, Daniel Billy, is an elder from the We-Wai-Kai First Nation—he proudly shares his wisdom and traditions with customers, and provides a delectable salmon barbecue and storytelling experience.

3) Bike your way to bliss

See the Island scenery from the seat of a bicycle, with the Island Joy Rides tour company. You can take a multi-day guided or self-guided tour, see ocean views and check out top eateries as well as wineries, cultural attractions and photography hot spots.

4) Peek into the past

The Museum at Campbell River will take you on an intriguing trip through Vancouver Island's history, with exhibits that cover everything from First Nations culture, to industrial history and even a garden with native plants from the area. There are always programs and events going on, so be sure to keep checking the museum website.

5) Appreciate the arts

See traditional First Nations art at the Wei Wai Kum House of Treasures gallery and gift shop. You can peruse all types of locally made artwork, including masks, paddles, clothing, dolls and jewelry.
