The staff of Voyager RV Centre Ltd. are about to go one step further in their quest to meet the needs of RVing customers. From January 27 to 31, 2010, they will be hosting their fifth annual online RV sale, offering tremendous discounts, promotions and payment plans to suit every budget.

“We are the only RV dealership doing this in western Canada,” said Jason Friesen, vice-president and sales manager. “It’s an online only sale—all sale prices, special payments and promotions are online.”

Customers will have several options when picking out their perfect unit. They can reserve an RV online, inquire about what their trade-in is worth or otherwise obtain information via email before making a purchase.

“The idea we came up with five years ago, was that in the middle of winter nobody wants to be out trudging through the snow and in the cold looking at RVs,” said Friesen. “We (wanted to) make buyers feel comfortable shopping for them in the middle of winter, so we came up with this concept. (RVs are) something that traditionally people need to touch and feel and walk through before they purchase. Now they can do that from the comfort of their homes, (and) browse through our entire inventory.”

Convenient choices

How can customers “walk through” their potential purchase over the Internet? The staff at Voyager RV have thought of that too.

“The local folks…will eventually come in,” said Friesen. “They’ll reserve an RV…and then come in on Saturday and have a look at it—obviously they’re local and they can do that. But for folks who are in Alberta, up north or on the coast, lots of times they’ll do it all sight unseen. We send them pictures (and) video tours of the units—full walkthroughs. Our salesmen will give a commentary while they walk through and can show them all the cabinets and fridges and bathrooms. We’re trying to make it a true online sale, which no one in the industry has done.”

Once the online shopping experience is completed, customers can head down to Winfield and pick up their units. Voyager will even deliver if the customer is unable to make it to the dealership.

“The customer might pay for the unit now and pick it up in the spring,” said Friesen. “Some customers might say ‘deliver it up to Kitimat,’ and we do that as well. Another great thing that attracts people’s attention is that not only do you not have to come in, but you can also (choose to) not pay anything until April. We actually do no interest as well, so for that time period you truly have no out-of-pocket costs, zero down and zero interest. The banks, of course, still want to charge the interest for those two months, but we at Voyager cover that interest.”

Additional perks

In addition to all these groundbreaking promotions, Voyager is also offering a price protection guarantee during the sale. This will include a form that customers and staff members sign, guaranteeing that the price paid will be the lowest offered on that specific make, model and year of RV for the rest of the year.

“If the price is lower anytime throughout the year, come on in and we’ll write you a cheque for the difference,” said Friesen. “We’re taking away all the doubt…we’re not only telling you and showing you the best price, but we’re also giving you an actual signed price protection guarantee form that you can hold with (you) all year. (Customers) know that they’re getting the best deal that anyone got all year long—on top of the other incentives. We’re sticking our neck out a little bit with that, but we want to let people know it’s the truth.”
