There’s much to see and do
Southern Alberta draws the RVwest rally back for a second year
A wonderful venue, interesting tours and informative seminars all added up to a successful RVwest RV rally held in Lethbridge last September. In fact, it was so successful that RVwest is heading back to southern Alberta for the 2008 rally.

The RVwest Chinook Country RV Rally 2008 will once again be held in Lethbridge, Alberta, at Bridgeview RV Park and Resort from September 11 to 14.
“It was a wonderful four days, a real treat,” said one 2007 attendee. “I can’t recommend the RVwest rally enough.”
More than 32 units and 65 individuals attended last year’s gathering, including hosts Duane and Lynda Pilson and RVwest publisher Keith Powell along with his wife, Linda.
“The weather was great, and southern Alberta was a tremendous destination for our RV rally,” said Powell. “We were thrilled to see such a good turnout and everyone had an enjoyable time.”
“Come cruise with us” is the theme of this year’s rally. One of the main activities will be a scenic afternoon boat cruise on Waterton Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park. Organizers are also planning tours of the World Heritage Site, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, and the RCMP barracks at Fort Macleod.
Last year, rally attendees were treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Remington-Alberta Carriage Centre. This incredible display of transportation history should be on every visitor’s agenda. The centre features more than 250 carriages, wagons and sleighs from a bygone era—the largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles in North America. Ride in a wagon, watch a craftsman at work or enjoy a hearty meal while visiting Cardston.
In 2008, rally attendees will be heading to one of the world’s largest and best preserved buffalo jumps. The magnificent Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump weaves the story of the Blackfoot people and their buffalo-hunting experiences.
Though the RVwest rally will not take in the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre as one of its official tours this year, a number of attendees will undoubtedly stop to check out the award-winning docudrama as it retells the story of the Frank Slide that occurred in 1903. Learning the colourful history of coal and rumrunners and seeing the impressive Frank Slide itself make for a captivating afternoon or morning visit.
Eldorado RV Sales of Lethbridge holds its annual Hoedown Open House and Sale during the rally, and helped to host last year’s event. The 2007 rally itinerary included a number of informative RV-related seminars on such topics as diesel power, solar panels, RV insurance and RV maintenance tips; a variety of seminars are being planned for this year’s rally as well.
