The Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival celebrates its Sweet Sixteen in 2008 and you’re invited to the party! Recognized for its superbly eclectic line-ups, this year’s festival will feature 50 of the finest artists and groups from around the world. Taking place August 15th to 17th at the Salmon Arm Fair Grouns, the festival is set beneath the panoramic backdrop of Mt. Ida and the Fly Hills, in one of the most scenic locations in the province.
Audiences will find many of their favourite musicians at this year’s Roots and Blues, including the Neville Brothers, Big Brother & the Holding Company, David Wilcox, Spirit of the West, Bobby Rush, the Jimmy Bowskill Band and more. They will also be introduced to new and exciting artists like Justin King, Jake Shiabukuro, Plants & Animals and the Re-Mains. A wide selection of infectious ryhthms from around the world makes Roots and Blues a musical mecca of cultural discovery with performers like Njava, the Jaipur Kawa Brass Band, Pistolera and Snehasish Mozunder, while younger audiences will delight to the sights and sounds of performers like Aaron Gregg, the CirKids Avatar Circus Project and fiddling wunderkinds, Chloe, Kyle and Co.
