Doug and Marg Clarke from Calgary, Alberta, were camped at a site in Canyon RV Resort in Radium Hot Springs when I stopped by one day in late July. Doug is a retired CIL explosives manufacturer and storage site inspector. The Clarkes are travelling in a 25-foot 2013 Leisure Travel Van from Triple E.

I watched the way you parked your RV, and it looks like you’ve had lots of practice.

Doug: Oh, sure, we’ve been RVing for a long time. We’ve been regular visitors here since 1968. We’re here for eight days this time.

Marg: We make at least four trips here every summer, and stay for a week or so.

How do you like your motorhome?

Doug: It’s really good. It parks like a dream and gets great gas mileage—almost the same as my pickup.

Marg: And our dog, Tessa, loves being able to come travelling with us.
