Keep Rollin’

The 2003-3rd Annual Glass Class Rallye was held at Emily Provincial Park on the 18th, 19th & 20th of July. 70+ fibreglass travel trailers and 120+ owners gathered, celebrated and shared their mutual enthusiasm for Glass Class RVs. Tips on restoration, maintenance, parts and overall excitement made the weekend a rip-roaring success.

Highlights of the three days were nightly campfires, Saturday PM Show and Shine and an evening potluck with great prizes donated by sponsors. At least five trailers were towed by working antique cars and trucks (no trailer queens here). These included a 1-ton Chev '54 panel, a '55 Chev two-door, '56 red and white Ford pickup with matching trailer, '72 VW Beetle with 1300 Boler and a '61 Pontiac Bonneville rag top. Many of the previous 13' trailer owners had upgraded their units with screen doors and some had traded their small units on 17 footers. Paul Neumiester had an extremely rare, one of 50 produced, 16' Earlton Boxy Boler!

This fall, there will be a less structured camp-out at Lake Shalamar in Niagara on the 19th, 20th & 21st of September. For 2004, we will gather again on the 8th through 11th once again at Emily. The boler rollers, Trillium Travelers and Glass Classers had a marvelous time!

We had a full-time couple who sold their home last February and have been living on board their Boler for the past six months! They've travelled extensively in Canada and the States and have no immediate plans to settle down. The 1300 was decked out with a stationary mounted TV/VCR unit and was a wonder of innovation and space utilization! Who needs timeshares, mortgages, lawns and a lot of extra junk?

Happy Rolling to Ya'!/La Vie Sur Roues!

Rick
