Take a ride in a Victorian-era horse-drawn carriage this summer
Ted Jeglum, president of Black Beauty Line Ltd. in Victoria, B.C, announced that his company will be introducing two new double-decker omnibuses to their tours this summer.
“We, along with our partner Dan Pedrick, have long dreamed of introducing the double-decker horse-drawn omnibuses of Victorian London to Victoria, B.C.,” said Jeglum. “The authenticity and style of these omnibuses will provide a superior touring experience for visitors.”
Giddy Up: Black Beauty Line Ltd. offers guided tours of Victoria in their authentic horse-drawn carriages.
After a world-wide search, Quebec craftsman Denis Robert was supplied with the original coachbuilder’s plans by Pedrick and has been working on the omnibuses since last year. The two omnibuses are believed to be the first of their kind in North America.
“We’re bringing back the good old days in more ways than one,” said Pedrick, who was an original founder of Black Beauty. “Our tours will be affordable and these omnibuses are just the first of more to come.”
The launch of the double-decker omnibuses is also the unveiling of the new partnership between original owner Pedrick, Jeglum, his wife Rebecca Spray, and legendary Jamaican adventure tour operator and entrepreneur Danny Melville of Chukka Caribbean Adventures.
