COWICHAN
Come play in our backyard. . . Join the Great Lake Walk—September 15, 2007
Nothing feels better than doing something for a good cause—unless you get to play in the process! The Great Lake Walk and Ultra-Marathon is a 56-kilometre walk or run around stunning Cowichan Lake. Start at the community of Youbou on the north shore, pass through Caycuse, Honeymoon Bay, and Mesachie Lake on the south shore and finally, finish in the town of Lake Cowichan. Warm welcomes and encouragement will abound as volunteers at the 12 rest stops supply food, drink and more. If you don’t want to participate but still want to be part of the fun, 10 a.m. is the time to cheer on the walkers and runners. Enjoy good food, bowling, entertainment, skating and a Boot 'N' Tailgate sale at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena. Entrants will receive a commemorative T-shirt on check in. Anyone crossing the finish line will received a matted shrink-wrapped print, designed by artist Michaela Davidson, suitable for framing. Event starts at 5 a.m.

Since the first Great Lake Walk in 2002, more than $370,000 has been raised for causes such as the BC SPCA, the BC Cancer Foundation, the Red Cross Society, and War Amps. Check out the website to discover the countless other charities and causes supported in the past. “It’s worth the walk.”
