Holiday Trails Resort was proud to host its first annual show and shine at its Camperland location

Situated in beautiful Rosedale, B.C., Holiday Trails Camperland RV Resort was proud to host their first annual show and shine event. This five-star resort is one of several Holiday Trails locations, and the chain is in its 26th year of operation. The show and shine took place on May 17, and it featured vintage and new vehicles of all kinds to the delight of visitors.
“Of course the 57 Meteor Ranch Wagon with the Alum Craft trailer was a huge hit,” said George Goddard, general manager of Holiday Trails Resorts. “Alum Craft was a Canadian attempt at copying the Air Stream. Air Stream had the Canadian manufacturer stopped due to trademark issues, etc.”
The vintage items were particularly popular with the crowd, demonstrating the growing interest in renovating classic RVs and other vehicles.
“People remember that time frame in their life, or through family photo albums and it seems that there is an appreciation of older vehicles that is being passed down through the generations,” said Goddard. “The younger generations seem to recognize a lot of the vehicles thanks to rides with grandparents back and forth.”
The atmosphere at the show was festive and family-oriented, and people of all ages were enthusiastically looking over the various displays.
“The park was full (of) our members with families, as well as some guests,” said Goddard. “There were lots of children and most of them had different favourites to their parents so we did allow them to vote for the people’s choice as well. The weather was beautiful and the call of the pool was strong but the folks spent a lot of time checking over the vehicles and speaking with the owners, asking questions on how long it took to redo, etc. There was a tremendous appreciation of the vehicles here from all age groups.”
Even people passing by stopped to see what the show had to offer, and the next installation of the event is eagerly anticipated.
“Many of our members have vehicles and want the opportunity to show them at the second annual event, in May of 2010 during the Victoria Day weekend,” said Goddard.
Vintage car enthusiasts are also encouraged to check out the Labour Day Vintage Car Show at Holiday Trails Christina Pines Resort.
“(It) is put on by the Columbia chapter of Vintage Cars,” said Goddard. “This event is over the Labour Day weekend each year at beautiful Christina Lake, B.C. This year will be the 31st event and everybody is welcome.”
