Adventures in the North
We (Duane and Lynda Pilson) have travelled to Alaska eight times over the past 11 years, organizing and leading seven RV caravans during this time. We will try and give you information which will increase your level of enjoyment by pointing out some of the best things to do and see.
-
Northern exposure
As we continue our journey of a lifetime, looking back on our experiences with the community of Valdez, Alaska, we can understand why it has been called the Switzerland of the north with the towering mountains surrounding the community and Prince William Sound.
-
Exploring the last frontier
Continuing our journey, we will travel straight through Anchorage and pick up the Seward Highway, which parallels Turnigain Arm, a large body of water that flows into and out of Cook Inlet, creating a large tidal bore when the tide comes in.
-
More to discover
After leaving Dawson City and crossing the Yukon River on the George Black, a free territorial ferry, you will start to climb the Top of the World Highway.
-
A world of wonder
If we look at Alaska being the final destination of this adventure, it is impossible to not include the Yukon in your northbound adventure plans, since you’ll have to travel through the Yukon Territory to get to Alaska, if travelling by land.
