VENTURA, CALIFORNIA RV park conference launched Affinity Group, Inc. has initiated its inaugural
RV Park & Campground Investment Conference
Affinity Group, Inc. (AGI), a leading industry source for RV and outdoor enthusiasts, today announced it will be conducting an RV Park & Campground Investment Conference, Oct. 17 to 19, 2007 in McLean, Virginia.
Targeted for investors, developers, park owners, real estate professionals, as well as financial institutions or lenders, and RV industry investment analysts, the conference will host a plethora of sessions and roundtable discussions, from forecasting the future of the overall RV industry, to investment opportunities in the $6 billion park and campground business. The conference will delve into venture aspects, including revitalization of existing parks, maximizing investments, and membership and time share models. AGI is teaming with David Gorin & Associates, a leading consulting group exclusively serving the RV park and campground industry, to create this inaugural industry meeting.
The Honorable Michael Oxley, vice-chairman of the NASDAQ Stock Market, Inc., will serve as the conference’s keynote speaker, Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7:45 a.m., exploring the economic outlook for vacation real estate, outdoor recreation and hospitality. Former Congressman Oxley was chairman of the House Committee on Financial Services and co-author of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, which was written in response to corporate business scandals. Working to establish investor protections, this act was designed to set higher standards for corporate governance. Oxley is now also counsel to Baker and Hostetler, advising clients on both domestic regulatory and economic issues and strategies.
The $14.5-billion-a-year RV industry is blazing a trail, earning near-record revenues in 2006. Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) data suggests continued long-term growth, with the number of RV-owning households expected to rise to $8.5 million by 2010.
The RV park and campground industry is a $6.5-billion industry, serving more than a million RVers and campers at more than 8,000 facilities nationwide.
In 2006, 390,500 RVs were shipped, the best annual total in the past 30 years. According to the latest industry figures, RV shipments are easing back to a more sustainable pace after five consecutive years of record growth, but rising wages and strong job growth are expected to continue to bolster demand through 2007.
