They don’t call Canada Hollywood North for nothing. Whether the film industry is using the remarkable scenery of Canada as a backdrop for a movie or importing some of the many talented actors this country produces, there is a big Hollywood presence in the country.
For movie buffs who find themselves in the Vancouver region this fall, the 26th Annual Vancouver International Film Festival is an event not to be missed.
Beginning September 27 and running until October 12, the festival will showcase films of all types, including shorts, mid-lengths and features from all over the world.
If Asian film is something you have a passion for, the festival boasts the largest showing of Asian film outside Asia. If you are more of a French film fanatic, the festival has an entire prize category dedicated to the films of France.

New to the festival this year is the Kyoto Planet Climate for Change Award. This $25,000 juried environmental award opens up a new category at the festival to recognize environmentally themed films. With this now being the highest cash prize at the event, people can look forward to seeing some truly outstanding work in this field.
For two weeks, Vancouver will be taken over by film, and lucky visitors can take advantage of the opportunity to view some fantastic films.
