EVENT: Fungi Festival LOCATION: Sicamous, B.C. DATE: September 29-30, 2007 WEBSITE:www.website.com
September 29 and 30 will see mushroom lovers from all over descend on Sicamous for the annual Fungi Festival.
The weekend will focus on wild mushrooms; festival-goers can take advantage of lectures, wine tastings, gourmet food and walking tours with guides who will help people find their own wild mushrooms.
Extreme fungi fans can reserve ahead to go on the festival’s Grand Tour. Starting September 24 in Revelstoke, RVers, campers and other fungi fanatics can take a weeklong tour of three areas complete with daily mushroom hunts and mushroom-related meals. Tour participants can either camp or stay in the cabins provided at the campsites if they don’t have a tent or RV. From Revelstoke the tour travels to Halcyon Hot Springs near Nakusp and wraps up at Sicamous for the Fungi Festival.
Other highlights at the Fungi Festival include vendors’ booths, entertainment and even a car show.
