“The Prince Rupert Daily News refers to this event as the premier running event in the northwest because it is more than just running—it really is a family fun day,” said race director Steve Merrick.
There is a one-kilometre run for kids, a five-kilometre walk and run, five-kilometre and 10-kilometre races and a half marathon. Merrick said that the day is good for people of all ages and abilities.
“Sometimes we have two-year-olds doing the one-kilometre run,” he said.
In keeping with the cannery theme, the day concludes with a halibut and salmon barbecue.
