The Devonian Botanic Garden has a beautiful Japanese strolling garden
Garden lovers who visit Devon this summer can experience a traditional kaiyou—or strolling-style�garden at the Devonian Botanic Garden. The University of Alberta faculty of agricultural, life and environmental sciences created the Kurimoto Garden in 1978. Intended to provide a Japanese/Canadian cultural exchange, the garden uses cold-tolerant and native Alberta plant species. Traditional wooden structures and granite lanterns support the authenticity of late Osakan designer Tadashi Kubo’s vision.

RVers will find that Devon has two places for them to hook up. The Pat O’Brien Lions campground is located in the river valley and the Leduc #1 Historical Site campground is conveniently situated near the fascinating Canadian Petroleum Discovery Centre.
While in Devon, visitors may want to take their kids to the splash park and skateboard park, and there are many trails to cycle or hike. The boat launch into the North Saskatchewan River is busy in the summer, as recreational boating is a popular Devon pastime.
HISTORICAL FACTOID � The name of Devon came from the Devonian Reef formation, which contained the oil deposit tapped by the iconic Leduc #1 well. This oil discovery was the impetus for the incorporation of the Town of Devon in 1950.
