Bring on the vino
Given that the Okanagan Valley is known for producing some of the country’s best wine, the local wineries like to liven things up with seasonal celebrations.
The Osoyoos Celebrity Wine Festival will be held from June 9 to 12, 2011. Attendants will be treated to wine and food pairings brought together by world-class chefs and winemakers. To make the event even more memorable, several A-list film and television celebrities will also be in attendance, turning the whole occasion into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Another must-see festival is the Romancing the Desert Gala, traditionally held during the August full moon. Guests will sip wine and pair it with gourmet food while basking in the natural splendour of the Osoyoos Desert Centre.
A night at the movies
The Tumbleweed Film Festival is taking place just a short drive south in Oroville, Washington, from August 4 to 6, 2011. August 4 will bring the festival to Veranda Beach Resort on Lake Osoyoos, where movie-goers can watch films and sip the famous Okanagan wines.
