El Centro has a laid-back atmosphere, and the people who live there love a good celebration. Visitors are blown away by the events and festivals here, as well as by the range of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed.

1) Yahoo for Yuha!

About 22 kilometres west of El Centro, the Yuha Desert presents both geological marvels and human history. You can see geoglyphs created by native peoples and ancient oyster shell beds, or hike the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail.

2) Hit a hole-in-one

For golfing and much more, visit Rio Bend RV & Golf Resort. This 120-acre resort offers a mind-boggling number of activities on a daily basis. For golfers, the Lake View Golf Course is a must-play.

3) Angels of the air

The Blue Angels put on an annual air show at the Naval Air Facility in El Centro. The next show will be on March 13, 2011.

4) Do the dunes

Off-road adventure awaits at the Algodones Dunes northeast of El Centro. The dunes feature several zones that are open for off-road, ATV or motorcycle use.

5) Visit the carrot capital

The nearby city of Holtsville often hosts fun events, including the famous Carrot Festival held in February.
